New Spa Treatments: Skin Care and Hair Procedures You Need to Know About
Who doesn’t love a good spa day? And fortunately for us beauty lovers, we’ve been noticing even more innovative procedures and brilliant at-home rejuvinators entering the market.
But which ones are really worth shelling out your hard-earned dollars for? And which procedures are more about marketing than marked results? Whether you’re pampering yourself, or thinking of purchasing a procedure/ getaway for a friend, these cutting-edge treatments and hair innovations are generating lots of buzz. Are they worth a second look?
Fraxel Laser Resurfacing: Worthy of the Hype?
Those who swear by fraxel laser techniques claim that it helps to diminish and even reverse fine lines and wrinkles. Furthermore, as the name suggests, the procedure is meant to completely resurface the skin, making it smoother, firmer, and more youthful. The goal? To take ten years off the face. But apparently, this quest for beauty can be quite painful.
In a nutshell, fraxel works by inflicting controlled “micro-injury” to the skin. These tiny injuries are supposed to encourage collagen reproduction in the skin. However, the treatment is very expensive, usually involves a series of sessions, and recovery can be painful. Basically, the strategy is “look worse to eventually look better.”
Ultimately, we’d probably recommend skipping this procedure and opting for a less-invasive facial, instead.
When done regularly, exfoliating facials can garner similar results at a lower price point, no recovery time or expensive injury-reducing creams necessary. We’d probably recommend both our hydrating eye contour facial (great for combating crow’s feet and firming the delicate skin around the eyes) with a sensitive skin facial! Gentle and effective!
Hair Extensions: A Big Do (No Pun Intended!)
Hair extensions have finally hit the mainstream thanks to their use by celebrities and beauty editors. Of course, they’ve been a big deal for years. But finally, the stigma around “hair with a little help” has disappeared. We recommend finding a salon that specializes in custom-made versions, made with 100% human hair. This way, you can curl, style, and wash it as you normally would. You can also color them with your regular hair if you decide you want to change your shade!
Hair extensions provide a wonderful pick-me-up, especially those with fine or thin hair. They can add both length and volume, giving you increased volume while still maintaining a natural look. To book an appointment, click here.
Glycolic Peel: An Appealing Idea
All the rage, especially in major city’s touting skin care devotees (we see you, Miami), glycolic peels reduce fine lines and wrinkles without the use of painful lasers. Instead, chemical exfoliators work to gently reduce sun spots and even skin tone and texture. We think this safe and relatively inexpensive procedure is worth all the praise. Plus, besides a little bit of post-procedure redness, you can go about your business with firm, glowing skin!
What do you think? Have you tried any of the above treatments?
